Can medication substitute psychotherapy?
In some cases, a combination of medication and therapy is the right course of action. Working with your medical doctor, you can determine what's best for you. It is well established that the long-term solution to mental and emotional problems, and their pain cannot be solved solely by medication. Instead of just treating the symptoms, therapy addresses the cause of our distress, the underlying issues, and the behavior patterns that interfere with our progress. You can best achieve sustainable growth and a greater sense of well-being with an integrative approach to wellness. ❤

The uniqueness of psychotherapy
Every therapy session is unique and caters to each individual and their specific goals. You will talk about your primary issues and concerns during therapy sessions. It is common to schedule a series of weekly sessions, where each session lasts around fifty minutes. Therapy can be short-term, focusing on a specific issue, or longer-term, addressing more complex issues or ongoing personal growth. There may be times when you are asked to take particular actions outside of the therapy sessions, such as reading a relevant book or keeping records to track certain behaviors. It is important to process what has been discussed and integrate it into your life between sessions. For therapy to be most effective, you must be an active participant, both during and between the sessions. People seeking psychotherapy are willing to take responsibility for their actions, work towards self-change, and create greater awareness in their lives.
Psychotherapy help with different situations
Psychotherapy can help treat most mental health problems, including · Anxiety disorders, such as obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), phobias, panic disorder, or post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) · Mood disorders, such as depression or bipolar disorder · Addictions, such as alcoholism, drug dependence, or compulsive gambling · Eating disorders, such as anorexia or bulimia · Personality disorders, such as borderline personality disorder or dependent personality disorder · Schizophrenia or other conditions that cause detachment from reality (psychotic disorders) · Not everyone who benefits from psychotherapy is diagnosed with a mental illness. Psychotherapy can help with several everyday life's stresses and conflicts that can affect anyone. For example, it may help you: · Resolve disputes with your partner or someone else in your life · Relieve anxiety or stress due to work or other situations · Cope with significant life changes, such as divorce, the death of a loved one, or the loss of a job · Learn to manage unhealthy reactions, such as road rage or passive-aggressive behavior · Come to terms with an ongoing or serious physical health problem, such as diabetes, cancer, or long-term (chronic) pain. · Recover from physical or sexual abuse or witnessing violence · Cope with sexual problems, whether they're due to a physical or psychological cause · Sleep better if you have trouble getting to sleep or staying asleep (insomnia) In some cases, psychotherapy can be as effective as medications, such as antidepressants. However, depending on your specific situation, psychotherapy alone may not be enough to ease the symptoms of a mental health condition. You may also need medications or other treatments. ❤

Psychotherapy is another term for counseling that can take place in many different formats, in individual, couple, group, or family sessions. The end goal of psychotherapy is helping individual(s) to enhance their lives by improving their current situation(s), increasing practical coping skills, and learning how to manage the present stressor(s) effectively. Stressor(s) that might be impacting their life, which is creating imbalance. In psychotherapy, the clinician(s) use a variety of approaches to help clients to help to achieve their goals.. Your therapist will determine which approach will be most beneficial to your therapeutic journey after you have completed an initial assessment. The best way to utilize Psychotherapy is when the patient actively participated in; this includes attending all regularly scheduled sessions, engaging during sessions, and sometimes the completion of homework assignments. Psychotherapy is a delicate process that does require a commitment on behalf of the client, so you must have a good understanding of your role as a patient.

If I can usually handle my problems, do I need therapy? Everyone goes through challenging situations in life. How can therapy help me? Several benefits are available from participating in psychotherapy. Therapy can provide support, problem-solving skills, and enhanced coping strategies for depression, anxiety, relationship troubles, unresolved childhood issues, grief, stress management, body image issues, and creative blocks. Many people also find therapy a tremendous asset to managing personal growth, interpersonal relationships, family concerns, and daily life. Therapy can provide a fresh perspective on a difficult problem or point you in a solution's direction. Sometimes it's just lovely to be listened to and receive reinforcement that what you are doing is working and continuing. You're almost there. Your answers and freedom are right around the corner. The benefits you obtain from therapy depend on how well you use the process and practice what you learn. Some of the services available from therapy include:
Do you accept insurance? How does insurance work? In BMW, we take some medical insurances. Please calls us at 321-888-6965. To determine if you have mental health coverage, the first thing you should do is check with your insurance carrier. Check your content carefully and find the answers to the following questions:
What risks will I have in psychotherapy?
Generally, there's little risk of having psychotherapy. But because it can explore painful feelings and experiences, you may feel emotionally uncomfortable at times. However, working with a skilled therapist can minimize risks and match the type and intensity of therapy with your needs. The coping skills you learn can help you manage and conquer a positive perspective in everyday situations and minimize negative feelings and fears.
How do I prepare to go to a competent psychologist or mental health clinician?
Here's how to get started:
Trained psychotherapists can have several different job titles, depending on their education and role. Most have a master's or doctoral degree with specific training in psychological counseling. Medical doctors who specialize in mental health (psychiatrists) can prescribe medications as well as provide psychotherapy. Psychotherapists include psychiatrists, psychologists, licensed professional counselors, licensed social workers, licensed marriage and family therapists, psychiatric nurses, or other licensed professionals with mental health training. Ensure that the therapist you choose meets state certification and licensing requirements for his or her particular discipline. The key is to find a skilled therapist who can match the type and intensity of therapy with your needs.
What can I expect in my first therapy session?
At the first psychotherapy session, the therapist typically gathers information about you and your needs. You may be asked to fill out forms about your current and past physical and emotional health. It might take a few sessions for your therapist to thoroughly understand your situation and concerns and determine the best approach or course of action. The first session is also an opportunity for you to interview your therapist to see if their approach and personality are going to work for you. Make sure you understand:
Don't hesitate to ask questions anytime during your appointment. If you don't feel comfortable with the first psychotherapist, you see, try someone else. Having a good fit with your therapist is critical for psychotherapy to be effective.
How is the starting psychotherapy process?
According to your situation, the psychotherapist will like to meet with you once a week or every other week. The therapy session lasts about 45 to 60 minutes. Psychotherapy is usually individual, with family, couple, or group session with a focus on safety and stabilization. The process might be in the BMW office, telehealth, or hospital if you've been admitted for treatment.
How many psychotherapy sessions do I need?
The number of psychotherapy sessions you need and how frequently you need to see your therapist depend on such factors as:
It may take only weeks to help you cope with a short-term situation. Treatment may last a year or longer if you have a long-term mental illness or other long-term concerns.
What should I do during psychotherapy?
For most psychotherapy types, your psychotherapist encourages you to talk about your thoughts and feelings and what's troubling you. Do not worry if you find it hard to open up about your feelings. Your therapist can help you gain more confidence and comfort as time goes on. Because psychotherapy sometimes involves intense emotional discussions, you may find yourself crying, upset, or even having an angry outburst during a session. Some people may feel physically exhausted after a session. Your therapist is there to help you cope with such feelings and emotions. Your therapist may ask you to do "homework" — activities or practices that build on what you learn during your regular therapy sessions. Over time, discussing your concerns can help improve your mood, change the way you think and feel about yourself, and improve your ability to cope with problems.
Do the process is confidential?
Except in rare and specific circumstances, conversations with your psychotherapist are confidential. However, a therapist may break confidentiality if there is an immediate threat to safety (yours or someone else's) or when required by state or federal law to report concerns to authorities. Your therapist can answer questions about confidentiality.
What results do I expect?
Psychotherapy may not cure your condition or make an unpleasant situation go away. But it can give you the power to cope healthily and to feel better about yourself and your life.
How can I get the most out of psychotherapy?
Please take steps to get the most out of your therapy and help make it a success.

Twenty percent of Americans deal with mental health issues every year. When those suffering do not seek out help, it can have seriously detrimental effects on their lives. We offer a wide range of mental health interventions and can help you find the solution that is right for you. There is no one-size-fits-all answer for patients. We can work with you to customize your therapeutic options, including non-medication interventions such as psychoanalysis, family therapy, and more.
Psychotherapy takes a medication-free approach to mental wellness and serves as the foundation of mental health treatment. As a practice, psychotherapy centers itself in empathy and working closely with the patient. In a session, the patient and therapist assess the difficulties facing the patient and develop life-changing strategies for dealing with these issues. Typically, psychotherapy is patient-driven and, as such, unique to each patient. Individual therapy is called psychotherapy, psychosocial therapy, talk therapy, and counseling. During psychotherapy, you learn about your condition and your moods, feelings, thoughts, and behaviors. Psychotherapy helps you know how to control your life and respond to challenging situations with healthy coping skills. ❤
Family means many things to many different people. As such, family therapy takes many forms. Divorced co-parents may want family therapy, or an extended family of multiple generations may benefit. The group learns to work together and with new tools for building proper support and connection throughout the family unit.
What Happens in Family Therapy
The first appointment in family therapy is typically when the therapist gets to know the family. He or she will ask questions about the nature and dynamic of the various relationships in the family, and the family will share their reasons for coming to therapy. In the case of acute crises, a therapist will offer immediate intervention. In many cases, a family will need treatment on an ongoing basis; however, family therapy does not typically take as many sessions as one-on-one therapy might.
Family therapy is a form of psychotherapy where family members come together to resolve conflicts and improve communication among one another. Like individual psychotherapy, family members learn valuable skills, and the intention is to help improve a current imbalance due to a stressor(s). ❤
Couples who want to work on their relationship and their roles in that relationship can benefit from couples therapy. This therapeutic approach may include sessions attended by both parties as well as individual sessions for each member of the couple. Those who qualify for couples therapy are not limited to married couples; anyone in a relationship or domestic partnership can benefit from couples therapy.
Do We Need Couples Therapy?
Any couple can benefit from couples therapy, even happy ones. Couples therapy is not the last stop on the road to divorce or separation, as many think. While it can serve as an intervention during a time of crisis, it can also be a great way to deepen and enhance a connection and serve as a preventative measure against future difficulties. Couples therapy is also a good option for families dealing with mental illness in one member of the couple, giving the partner the tools he or she needs to support their partner. ❤
Our psychologist and counseling group therapy offer group therapy where individuals with similar situations work on a common concern/issue in an environment known as a “safe zone.” There is no judgment in this environment, as all participants are enrolled working towards the same common goal. Participants can sometimes be encouraged to share personal histories to strengthen bonds between members and utilize each other’s experiences as guides for learning and growing. All group members are encouraged to form relationships and work towards bettering themselves with comparison to admission. Many different therapy groups can range in size, topics, and length of time. Some of the more well-known therapy groups include NA (Narcotics Anonymous) AA (Alcoholics Anonymous), OA (Over-Eater’s Anonymous). In Behavior Mind Wellness (BMW), we have our on-site therapy groups of 12 sessions, addressing additional topics such as anxiety, depression, anger, grief/loss, PTSD, and coping skills. Our groups are typically 12 to 16 participants. Group therapy can be used in conjunction with other therapies (individual, couples, or family therapy). ❤
Psychological assessments make use of a variety of clinical assessment tools and strategies to understand better an individual's present struggles to formulate a diagnosis. Clarifying a diagnosis helps set the stage for proper intervention and is often needed to access support programs.
The psychological assessments go beyond providing a diagnosis, to exploring the individual's strengths and difficulties, and to understand how they interact with his or her environment. Reviews offer a very comprehensive and personalized profile that helps understand the individual's learning style, behavior, feelings, and thought process.

At BMW, we offer psychological services through telehealth. Sometimes, these types of appointments are called teletherapy. In the telehealth appointments, patients get the care they need through secure video conferencing with our expert clinicians.
Are There Benefits to Choosing Telehealth for Mental Health Treatment?
One of the most significant benefits of telehealth for mental health is that many patients find it easier to attend virtual appointments regularly. Regular attendance is vital for positive outcomes in mental health treatment. When people do not have to take extra time off of work, fight traffic both ways, or find child care for appointments, it’s easier to get the care they need.Telepsychiatry and teletherapy can also help patients broaden their support systems. Providers can use secure video conferencing to speak to patients alongside Teachers, Family, Other healthcare providers, and Friends, among others. With the patient informed consent, this can ensure the person’s whole support system is on the same page, thus improving patient care. For: OUR PROVIDER PLEASE USE: https://doxy.me/drcapellacarmen– When prompted, please select ALLOW or ENABLE to using both Camera and Microphone– Enter the patient’s first and last name and select “CHECK-IN.”_You will be in her telehealth virtual waiting room. – Stay connected in the “waiting room,” and the provider will begin the call when available for you.-Please, remember that you should have an appointment schedule. ❤
In psychology, hypnosis is referred to as hypnotherapy and is uses for several purposes, including reducing mental health symptoms, weight loss, and treating pain. Hypnosis is usually performed by a trained therapist who utilizes visualization and verbal repetition to induce a hypnotic state.
Hypnosis is a trance-like mental state in which people experience increased attention, concentration, and suggestibility. While hypnosis is often described as a sleep-like state, it is better expressed as a state of focused attention, heightened suggestibility, and vivid fantasies. People in a hypnotic state often seem sleepy and zoned out, but they are in a state of hyper-awareness in reality.
Hypnosis is a therapeutic technique in which clinicians make suggestions to individuals who have undergone a procedure designed to relax and focus their minds. Although hypnosis has been controversial, most clinicians now agree it can be a powerful, effective therapeutic technique for a wide range of conditions, including pain, anxiety, and mood disorders. ❤

Overweight and obesity are abnormal or excessive fat accumulation that can be harmful to health. Body mass index (BMI) is a simple indicator of the relationship between weight and size used to identify overweight and obesity in adults. It is calculated by dividing a person's weight in kilos by the square of their size meters (kg/m2). How do I know if I have Obesity or Overweight? A Body Mass Index (BMI) equal to or greater than 25-30 determines overweight. BMI equal to or greater than 30-35- Type 1 Obesity BMI equal to or greater than 35-40- Obesity Type 2 BMI greater than 40 or more Type 3 Obesity BMI provides the most useful measure of overweight and obesity in the population, as it is the same for both sexes and adults of all ages.
